La Crosse County Clerk discussed preparations during League of Women Voters event
LA CROSSE, Wis. (WKBT) – Voting issues, challenges and solutions are the focus of a virtual discussion in our area.
La Crosse County Clerk Ginny Dankmeyer spoke during a League of Women Voters ‘Lunch and Learn’ event Tuesday.
She discussed last evening’s ruling by the Wisconsin Supreme Court which kept the Green Party candidate off the ballot and cleared the way for absentee ballots to be sent out.
Now county clerks must work to meet a Thursday deadline to mail ballots to a million voters in the state.
Dankmeyer says county officials were preparing, no matter what the ruling was.
“It was about noon when I finally told the printer to go ahead. He had his people work the weekend and we got the ballots in house. It was like Tuesday afternoon. So we were prepared to meet the deadline if need be we were prepared to hold onto them,” said La Crosse County Clerk Ginny Dankmeyer.
Clerks also face a Saturday deadline in federal law to send ballots to military and overseas voters.
Details for the election in Wisconsin is available on the MyVoteWI website.
