Milwaukee Brewers reinstate Freddy Peralta, send JP Feyereisen and Eric Lauer back to Appleton - Brew Crew Ball

After missing a couple days of action to be with his loved ones, Freddy Peralta has returned to the active roster for the Milwaukee Brewers. Peralta’s family grew by one with the arrival of his new daughter.

The right-hander is back for tonight’s game against the St. Louis Cardinals, and two hurlers have been sent back to the Alternate Training Site to make room on the roster — Eric Lauer and JP Feyereisen. The club was carrying an extra player because of yesterday’s doubleheader.

Peralta signed a five-year extension before the season (and before the coronavirus shutdown) and with his long-term future secured, he has thrived during this shortened season. Functioning largely as a multi- or bulk-inning arm out of the bullpen (he has one start in 14 appearances), Peralta has authored a 3.27 ERA across 27.1 innings pitched. While his 73 ERA- is excellent, his peripherals say he’s been ever better — Peralta has 44 strikeouts against 11 walks and has yielded just one home run this season, adding up to a 1.97 FIP / 44 FIP-.
