The Cubs and Rays have completed their trade deadline deal that sent outfielder/DH José Martínez to the North Side back in August.
Wednesday, the Cubs sent cash to the Rays, settling the deal after sending 19-year-old Single-A infielder Pedro Martinez to Tampa Bay in September.
The deal was to send the Rays two players to be named later and/or cash.
Martínez appeared in 10 games with the Cubs, going 0-for-21 at the plate. The Cubs optioned him to their South Bend alternate site in early September to get him consistent at-bats, recalling him later in the month before optioning him again soon after.
Martínez, 32, is arbitration eligible through 2022.
Pedro Martinez most recently played with short-season Single-A Eugene in 2019. He finished that season as the Cubs' No. 28 prospect, according to MLB Pipeline.
