OAKLAND — One man was fatally shot and another man deliberately ran over with a vehicle and killed Monday evening in East Oakland neighborhoods, authorities said.

The names of the two men have not been released yet.

The two deaths are the 100th and 101st homicide investigations by police this year, 94 of which are classified as murders. In all of 2019, Oakland had 78 homicides, 75 of them murders.

At 5:01 p.m., officers responded to reported ShotSpotter activity in the 10400 block of Nattress Way just west of 105th Avenue in the city’s Sobrante Park neighborhood.

When they arrived, they found a 47-year-old man behind the wheel of a vehicle suffering from  multiple gunshot wounds. Officers provided emergency life-saving measures until medical personnel arrived at the scene, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A motive for the shooting was still under investigation.  A possible suspect was seen running away from the scene but no arrests have been made.

At 5:12 p.m., officers received reports of a possible shooting near East 19th Street and 23rd Avenue in the city’s Highland Terrace neighborhood.
