CLEVELAND, Ohio – Do any politicians really deserve an award for 2020?
That’s a question we wrestled with when deciding whether to bring back the Sloopys – Capitol Letter’s politics awards – for a third time. This year has been garbage, and many politicians haven’t really done much to deserve the public’s praise.
But the Sloopys are supposed to be – and have been – light-hearted fun for Capitol Letter readers. And we don’t want to take away that fun at a time when we most need it.
So, this year, you’ll notice some changes regarding the Sloopys. While we still want to reward the hardworking staff members who operate behind the scenes, you’ll notice a few other categories missing. And we’ve added a couple of categories that we think are well-earned: Biggest Troll and Most Factually Challenged.
Nominations are simple. Just fill out as many categories as you want in the form below and hit submit. Some mobile users may have to use this link to access the voting form.
Nominations are open until Thursday, Dec. 10, with voting starting the following Monday. We’ll announce the winners in Capitol Letter Dec. 21-24.
You can find the winners for the coveted Sloopy awards here for 2018 and here for 2019.
