Detwiler of Three Rivers at 160 pounds also qualifies for state finals
The Constantine Falcons are still alive as a wrestling team and will take on Dundee in the quarterfinals on Tuesday in Kalamazoo.
On Saturday, six Falcons qualified for the state finals as individuals. One Three Rivers grappler also made the Division 3 finals, which will be held at Wings Event Center in Kalamazoo on Friday.
Boe Eckman dominated the 215-pound weight class on Saturday, pinning his way to a regional championship. Eckman started the day with a pinfall win over Davin George of Quincy at 2:37, then pinned Kaiden Hubbell of Dundee in 51 seconds to reach the finals. In those finals, Eckman won by pinfall over Preston Calvert of South Haven at 3:42 to win the title.
At 130 pounds, Dylan Reiff placed second overall. He fell to Ashytn Bennett of Hopkins in the finals. To get there, Reiff won two consecutive matches by pinfall.
Eric Demas placed fourth overall at 140 pounds. He fell in the third-place matchup to Thomas Sturdevant of Brooklyn Columbia Central by pinfall. In the first match of the day, Demas pinned Sturdevant, but then dropped a pinfall decision to Derek Ballinger of Jonesville before entering the consolation bracket. There, he pinned Kaden Knapp of Otsego to reach the third-place match.
The 171-pound weight class saw Troy Demas claim second place for the Falcons. He dropped a 12-5 decision to Dominick Lomazzo in the finals. To get there, Demas pinned Stephen Peterson of Hillsdale and then won by a 9-1 decision over Nic Bellaire to reach the finals.
The 189-pound finals saw Isaac Hall fall for the first time this year. He was defeated by Stoney Buell in a major decision, 16-3. To reach the finals, Hall pinned Brayden William of Flat Rock and Trevin Eggleston of Napolean.
Also taking second place was Chuck Taylor at heavyweight. He fell to undefeated Wyatt Bailey of Dowagiac by technical fall, 21-5, in the finals. To get there, Taylor pinned Ryan Price of Hillsdale at 1:49 and then Joseph Siniarski of Flat Rock at 1:25.
Three Rivers had one qualifier to the state finals in Jeremiah Detwiler at 160 pounds.
Detwiler lost his first match to Gerl Pish of Quincy by pin, sending him into the consolation bracket. There, Detwiler pinned Bowen Bradley of Michigan Center in his first match at 2:16. Detwiler won in his blood round match over Nick Given of Flat Rock by a 6-2 decision, that sent him to the third-place match. There, Detwiler lost to Pish again, this time by a 7-2 decision.
