Minnesota Twins send Alex Kirilloff to alternate site; cut handful of players - Twinkie Town

Another day, another round of Spring Training cuts by the Minnesota Twins. This time, a prospect has been sent away to the alternate training site.

Alex Kirilloff has been ushered out of major-league camp with a .129/.182/.258 slash line in 31 at-bats. It includes a walk and a home run to his name. The lefty will most likely start in Class AAA St Paul this season or, as many baseball fans and writers with a Twitter account believe, he’ll hang out at the alternate site until late April and then get called up. Some say service time manipulation, some say not.

Either way, the Twins will need to fill a spot in the outfield with someone not named Alex Kirilloff. Kyle Garlick, Keon Broxton, Jake Cave, and Brent Rooker are a handful of names that still have a chance of snatching up presumably two roster spots - a starting outfield spot and an outfield bench position - before the team makes its way to Milwaukee after Spring Training.

In addition, Minnesota sent five other players to the minor-league camp, leaving them with 43 players left.
