SOUTH AFRICA -- I have a 4-year-old white German shepherd named Lisa who I have had since she was a puppy.

Lisa is an absolute gem and an extremely loving companion.

She loves her doggy treats and is scared silly by any weather changes -- that is, thunder and lightning. It reminds me of the Labrador retriever from “Marley and Me.”

Lisa absolutely, without a doubt, hates bath time. And she cries before supper to let us know what time it is. Even though she’s in a rush to get her supper, she’s in no hurry to finish it – she takes most of the night to go through her two cups of food.

She loves her naps, and at times snores.

When it comes to “walking the dog,” it’s a lot more like the dog walking her owner, as she is inquisitive about all things around her.
