KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - People, schools and organizations across the state are speaking out to send their condolences to the Austin-East community following the fatal shooting on Monday.

A group of community members gathered Tuesday afternoon for a prayer circle near the school.

The Gibbs High School Counseling Department said Austin East is, “Always a welcoming place that pours love into kids.”

The Halls High School Boys Soccer team said, “no school should ever have to deal with this on top of everything else this past year.”

Dr. John Bartlett, the principal at Farragut High, asked the community to rally around Austin-East at this time.

Please remember AE HS and the AE community in your prayers. Please also remember the faculty, staff, &administrators go to work every day to provide opportunities for every student. They are 1st rate & take a lot of pride in their work. We need to rally around them at this time.
