Send a curated care package to those who can’t make it to your wedding - New York Post

Despite the challenges of planning a wedding during the current health crisis, for many brides, the show must go on. With shortened guest lists, many friends and relatives now join the festivities remotely via Zoom or video streaming. Finding ways to connect with virtual guests, like sending gift boxes or small mementos that are special to the couple, help make those remote revelers feel a part of the occasion.

Ariel Redmond, co-founder of Happy Box Store, an online source for custom gift boxes (shown right), planned a pandemic wedding and sent her own Happy Box to those who couldn’t attend.

“We had only 25 people,” she said. “I had my sister videoconference a few of our best friends who were not able to make it. In their Happy Box, each were given a champagne flute and an Italian spritz kit — our signature drink — so they could toast us and feel like they were there with us. We had to cull down the guest list, so this was a really fun way for them to join in and feel included in our celebration.”

Louis Sherry is renowned for its decadent chocolate truffles which come in beautiful multicolored tins that are regularly sought after to gift as wedding favors and perfect to add to a wedding box.

“We recently had a bride send out our two-piece tins to her friends with an invitation inside asking them to be bridesmaids,” said Tim Tippin, president of Louis Sherry.

Virginia Frischkorn, founder and CEO of Bluebird Productions luxury wedding and event planning, had to rethink her business when COVID-19 hit. She launched Bluebird in a Box, offering curated boxes or digital downloadable kits for themed events, with bridal and wedding coming Nov. 1. She recommends giving some thought to the presentation of a livestreamed wedding.

“Consider hiring a professional to handle this,” said Frischkorn. “Rehearse the technological part of your wedding day. Keep your rituals [first dances, toasts] — this makes the virtual streaming more intimate and special.”
